The 20^th of February 2026 marked the 75^th anniversary of what has been dubbed ‘the most fateful date in the history of the world’ – the conception of The Sherlock Holmes Society of London!

The numbered, limited edition of this beautifully illustrated book sold out within two hours so we have decided to arrange a second, unnumbered edition to give more members the opportunity to own this perfect memento of our 75^thanniversary year.

The volume, edited by member Ashley Mayo, sheds light on the Society’s genesis – a story full of controversy and excitement, with roots in the Sherlock Holmes Exhibition that was organised as part of the Festival of Britain.

All aspects of the Society’s rich programme of events over the decades are also featured – the glamour of the annual dinners, the cricket matches and race meetings, excursions, lectures, boat trips and, of course, our regular pilgrimages to the Reichenbach Falls!
