The Society’s May meeting and Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 21^st May 2026 at The National Liberal Club, at 1, Whitehall Place, London, SW1, at 6.00 for 6.45pm.    The National Liberal Club is located on the corner of Whitehall Place and the Victoria Embankment, not far from Embankment Underground Station, and also conveniently placed for Charing Cross main line station.  It is usually possible to find a parking space in the vicinity at this time in the evening – although you may have to pay the congestion charge.

Please note: As is our usual practice, both the dinner and the meeting will be in the David Lloyd George Room on the first floor, opposite the staircase.  However, the cash bar before the meeting will also be in the David Lloyd George Room and will remain open during and after the meeting.  Only members of the National Liberal Club will be able to use the main bar and Smoking Room.

Dinner will be served at 6.45pm and will be followed by the AGM from around 8pm, followed by the Quiz.

The Society is celebrating its 75^th anniversary this year and what better way to help celebrate this momentous event than a Quiz.  Questions will be drawn not only from the Canon but also from the history of the Society, about events that have occurred since 1951.  General and Canonical knowledge – what a combination.  Holmes once said, “a man should keep his little brain-attic stocked with all the furniture that he is likely to use, and the rest he can put away in the lumber-room of his library, where he can get it if he wants it”, but you will not have access to your lumber-room.  Come with your little brain attic well stocked!

Teams will be organised on the day, mixing old and new members and their guests.  Get to know new people on what will be something of a level playing field.  It promises to be a good night out!

The Quiz will be preceded by the Annual General Meeting.

Members and their guests may opt to attend the AGM only, for which there is no charge.  Or the AGM and the quiz for £15, or also to dine beforehand at a cost of £49 per head.  The meeting and dining charge includes VAT and service but not drinks, which must be paid for on the night.

For those who choose to dine, the meal will comprise two courses: a main course of Duo of Pork, Slow Roasted Belly with Savoy Cabbage & Pulled Pork Ballotine, with Crackling, roasted Savoy cabbage & apple cider infused jus, followed by Orange Semolina Cake, Mango gel, orange segments, orange curd & mango sorbet.  A vegetarian alternative main course of Spelt, Spinach & Preserved Lemon Risotto, Sweet potato steak, roasted tofu, cauliflower & broccoli, pomegranate molasses dressing may be ordered in advance.  Please advise any dietary requirements when booking.

The Society likes to keep a record of its activities, including photographs of our meetings which are published in the Journal and on the Society’s website.  If you do not want to appear in a Society photograph please avoid being in any posed photographs and advise one of the meeting organisers.
