The Game’s Afoot: Untold Tales

August 25 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pm
The Game's Afoot

The Game’s Afoot is the name given to our occasional pub evenings for Society members and their guests, offering entertainment and the opportunity to get together and get to know other members of the Society informally at little cost.

For our next event on 25 August, members will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas for adaptations of the untold tales (e.g. The Giant Rat of Sumatra) to potential filmmakers (the rest of us!). If you’ve ever wanted to explain just what a Yeggman is, or why Ricoletti’s wife was so abominable, now is your chance! If you want to take part, prepare a short pitch (aim for a maximum of three minutes) on a tale of your choice, developing the story as you see fit. Inspiration may be found here: https://www.arthur-conan-doyle.com/wiki/Category:Untold_Stories

The audience will decide which pitch should be made into a film/TV programme!

As usual, we’ll meet in a private bar upstairs in The Cheshire Cheese pub in Little Essex Street, London WC2R 3LD – a three-minute walk from Temple tube station (not to be confused with the pub of the same name in nearby Fleet Street).

We’ll gather from 7.30 and the competition will start around 8.00. The Cheshire Cheese serves food so please arrive a little earlier if you’d like to order yourself something to eat.

These events are very popular so please book as soon as possible – there is a limit to the number that can be accommodated at the Cheshire Cheese. There is a £5 booking fee per person.
