The Game’s Afoot: The Creeping Man in Person!

April 1 @ 8:00 pm
The Game's Afoot

The Games Afoot is the name given to our occasional pub evenings for Society members and their guests, offering entertainment and the opportunity to get together and get to know other members of the Society informally at little cost.

For our next event on 1 April, we’ll be joined by Robert Lloyd Parry, a performance storyteller (pictured) who specialises in classic tales from the golden age of the English short story – works by the likes of M R James, H G Wells,  Saki, and Arthur Conan Doyle. He is currently working on a one-man show, “Hide, Watson!”, based on two Sherlock Holmes classics. At The Game’s Afoot on this occasion, Robert will be thrilling us with a reading of The Adventure of the Creeping Man, one of Sherlock Holmes’s strangest cases.

Once again, we’ll meet in a private bar upstairs in The Cheshire Cheese pub in Little Essex Street, London WC2R 3LD – a three-minute walk from Temple tube station (not to be confused with the pub of the same name in nearby Fleet Street). We’ll gather from 7.30 and the reading will start around 8.00. The Cheshire Cheese serves food so please arrive a little earlier if you’d like to order something to eat.

There is a £5 booking fee per person which on this occasion will be used to defray some of the costs of this event. You can book here
