Baker Street Ladies – Fireside Folktales Fringe

“An oasis of art in the howling desert of South London”
We are delighted to invite members and their guests to join a group visit to see Baker Street Ladies- Fireside Folktales Fringe, on Sunday 24th May, from 1.30-2.30pm.
The play comes highly recommended and was shown at the Edinburgh Festival: “A refreshing take on Sherlock Holmes. I always really enjoy shows that take classic stories and reinterpret them from a different perspective. This is exactly what ’Baker Street Ladies’ is and it is a fascinating watch for anyone with an interest in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s characters.” “An interesting one woman show which captures the imagination of the audience with a charismatic performance.”
The venue is the Barnes Green Centre, London, SW13 9HE – a charming and hugely versatile venue which seats about 85 people. We have acquired 20 seats at £20 each. The group will meet outside the Centre at 1.00pm.
Barnes Village is well worth a visit with shops, cafés and pubs. While we are not arranging a meal as part of the event, The Bull’s Head, 373 Lonsdale Road, Barnes, SW13 9PY looks to be a good choice for anyone who wants to have a drink or meal before or after the play. ‘Nestled at the top of Barnes High Street and perched along the Thames, our pub is truly one-of-a-kind. Steeped in rich, music-filled history, it blends timeless charm with effortless style. Inside, you’ll find an array of picture-perfect spaces, including the breathtaking Melrose Room with sweeping river views, perfect for intimate dinners, private celebrations, or simply soaking up the atmosphere. From cosy corners to lively tables by the bar, every visit promises a moment to remember.’
They serve a traditional English roast dinner so if you go early, you can do both the play and a meal, though you may need to book for food, or meet up after the performance for a drink and a chat.
Bookings can be made on their website, https://www.thebullsheadbarnes.com/
We look forward to a traditional Sunday get together. The nearest train station is Barnes Bridge, to which trains run from Waterloo Station. It is a 5-minute walk to the Barnes Green Centre. The Bull’s Head is at the top of the High Street.
Also not far away are Richmond Park, Kew Gardens and Barnes Wetland Centre.
