Afternoon Tea in The Cholmondeley Room and Private Terrace at The House of Lords

May 22 @ 3:30 am - 5:00 pm
Afternoon Tea in The Cholmondeley Room

“We shall just have time for a cup of tea”

We are delighted to invite members and their guests to our 75th Anniversary celebration Tea at the House of Lords on Friday the 22nd May at 3.30pm until 5pm.  Please arrive by 3pm to allow time for the security check.

We are most grateful to our sponsor The Lord Horam who is a sitting member of the House of Lords and as an MP sponsored our Annual Dinner for many years in the House of Commons.  This is a unique opportunity to see London from the Terrace of the House of Lords and enjoy historic surroundings while having a very English Tea.

Booking is on a first come, first served basis and closes on 18th May.  As usual, if the event is full, you will be offered to option to join a waiting list.

Security at the House of Lords is necessarily strict, and admission will be by formal invitation only.  For this reason, we need to know, at the time of booking, the full names, addresses and email addresses for you and any guest you bring to the tea.  You will receive, by email, a personalised invitation which will need to be produced to gain entrance to the building.  It is also advised to bring some additional photo ID.  Full details about access will be sent with your invitation.

The cost of the Tea is £50 per person.

As a separate attraction you can book a tour of the House and Commons and House of Lords via the website (https://tickets.parliament.uk/timeslot/uk-parliament-english-guided-tour).  Available dates and times will be available on the website after the Easter Break.  They run at regular intervals before 3pm.  Please make sure you leave yourself sufficient time to join us for the Tea.  The cost per person (payable direct to the House) is £34.00 and includes the Royal Rooms not normally available.

The Society likes to keep a record of its activities, including photographs of our meetings which are published in the Journal and on the Society’s website.  If you do not want to appear in a Society photograph please avoid being in any posed photographs and advise one of the meeting organisers.

The Meetings Secretary’s e mail address is: meetings@sherlock-holmes.org.uk
